Step-change aeroponic (soilless) smart agriculture system for staple food crop production - Anticipated 18 times higher yields, 85+% water saving, effectively organic, climate change resilient, self-harvesting, etc. Potentially can solve 'world hunger'.

The System

The System

John explains, at the Rothamsted Open Innovation Forum, 18 January 2017, the current advanced Airponix Ltd's system e.g. the current proposed fog generation system uses 93 times less energy to operate than the next best alternative and mentions the 13 beneficial functions. It should enable for the first time the growing of staple crops such as wheat and rice economically and hopefully should allow the solving of 'world hunger'.

Crop stresses are caused by problems e.g. drought, floods, high and low air temperatures, soil loss, high winds, lightning-caused fires, lack of fertiliser, disease, insect pests, large hailstones etc. The Airponix® aeroponic system, covered by 3 patents, is designed to protect plants from stress and harm as cost-effectively and as efficiently as possible, optimise growth conditions to maximise productivity per unit area of (soil-less) ground, while also minimising labour inputs. The system is also designed to operate with a low environmental impact (e.g. a low energy, chemical & fresh water use).
